I arrived at Oregon Star Party (OSP) 2003, Indian Trail Spring, late afternoon. My telescope configuration for OSP 2003 was an Orion Atlas 10 telescope on a Losmandy G-11 mount. The Orion Atlas 10 inch Newtonian reflector has a 254mm aperture with a 1200mm focal length at f/4.7.
Mars was my primary imaging target for OSP 2003. Tuesday night I started imaging Mars at 11:18 pm with a Nikon Coolpix 990 digital camera afocal coupled to a Tele Vue Radian 10mm eyepiece with a Tele Vue Paracorr Coma Corrector. I took 1,318 Mars images until 4:02 am in the dawn twilight. In the dawn twilight I took 149 Saturn images until 4:28 am.

Wednesday night I started imaging Mars at 9:55 pm with a Santa Barbara Instrument Group (SBIG) ST-237 CCD camera with a Tele Vue 5x Powermate on the Orion Atlas 10 reflector. I took 3,481 Mars images until 3:03 am
Thursday August 28, 2003
Thursday evening I took sunset pictures with the Nikon 990. Thursday night I started imaging Mars at 11:05 pm with a Philips ToUcam PVCV 740K web cam with a Tele Vue 5x Powermate on the Orion Atlas 10 reflector. I took 22 Mars video clips that totaled 5.69 GB until 1:45 am. I stopped because of the poor seeing.

Friday afternoon I gave an Imaging the Moon, Planets and Sun with a Digital Camera presentation (Microsoft PowerPoint OSP2003C.pdf file, 1,964KB). Below are additional links and references to software shown in the presenation.
Friday evening I took sunset pictures with the Nikon 990. Friday night I started imaging Mars at 9:43 pm with a Philips ToUcam PVCV 740K web cam with a Tele Vue 5x Powermate on the Orion Atlas 10 reflector. I took 37 Mars video clips that totaled 10.8 GB until 4:40 am. From 4:43 am to 4:50 am I took three video clips (total 911 MB) of Saturn in the early morning twilight. Also early Saturday morning, I took some pictures of Mars setting on the southwestern horizon with the Nikon 990.

Saturday evening I took sunset and waxing crescent moon pictures with the Nikon 990. Saturday night was mostly cloudy but the seeing was better than all the previous nights. Saturday night I started imaging Mars at 9:25 pm with a Santa Barbara Instrument Group (SBIG) ST-237 CCD camera with a Tele Vue 5x Powermate on the Orion Atlas 10 reflector. I took 5,731 Mars images until 4:07 am. From 4:36 am to 5:25 am I took 698 Saturn images in the early morning twilight.
